McPherson ’13 & James ’14 Perform at Governor’s Award Ceremony

AlyssaOn May 2, 2013 Alyssa McPherson ’13 performed her poem “The Painter’s Wife” at the Governor’s Awards in Arts Education Ceremony at Patriot’s Theater at the War Memorial, Trenton, NJ. She received the Gold Medal for Creative Nonfiction for her essay, “Reservoir,” and shared the Gold Medal for Poetry with Flannery James ’14. Flannery’s poem was entitled, “Patagonia.” Texts of the winning poems can be found here. The previous year, Flannery also won the Gold Medal for her poem, “Aladdin’s Curse,” which she performed in the same venue. You can see a video of her performance here.
