NA Students Earn 2012 Scholastic Awards

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers honors fourteen Newark Academy students:

Honorable Mention distinction, which shows tremendous creative promise and places the student in the top 20% of her/his region, was earned by Ahlia Bethea ’13, Christopher Davis ’12, Isabelle Jeng ’12 and Remenna Xu ’14 for personal essays; Zoe Huber-Weiss ’13 and Daniel Kwiatkowski ’15 for fiction; Annabel Sharahy ’13 and Rebecca Tolpin ’14 for poetry; and Zoe Huber-Weiss ’13, Aly McPherson ’13 and Remenna Xu ’14 for dramatic scripts.

The Silver Key Award, which indicates high honors on the regional level and places students in the top 15% of their region, was earned by Tucker Iverson ’12 for humor, Flannery James ’14 for personal essay, Aly McPherson ’13 for poetry, and Remenna Xu ’14 for fiction.

The Gold Key Award, which is the highest level of achievement on the regional level and places students in the top 10% of their region, was earned by Katie Charney ’13 for visual art, Brendan James ’14 for photography, Flannery James ’14 for poetry, and Jocelyn Tolpin ’17 for fiction. Work by Gold Key winners will go on to compete at the national level. Good luck!
